Savannah Bananas x Mad Apple

My greatest passion/interest on social media is expanding worlds and leaning into fandom. I love to think about how characters would interact on social media and what stories can be told in a social first way.

Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group’s newest show on the strip features a scene titled “The Game” with fun upbeat dancers, hoop divers, and acrobatic dunkers. The scene features acrobats flipping through the air in neon “basketball” uniforms matching the VFX on screen.

One tradition synonymous with professional sports is trading jerseys. It has been fun organizing “jersey swaps” after “the game”, further driving the messaging that Mad Apple’s acrobatic dunkers are pro basketball players (by definition, they are right?!).

As a lover of sports, entertainment, and social media it was amazing seeing Savannah Bananas player Jackson Olson (1M+ followers) trade jerseys on stage after the show last night. It is even sweeter seeing this come to fruition knowing I first connected with Jackson before Mad Apple was a show, and before he was on the Bananas.

Huge thanks to the Mad Apple show team for making this possible.

P.S. If you’re looking for a fun book to read, I highly recommend “Find Your Yellow Tux” by banana’s owner Jesse Cole. I loved learning how Walt Disney, P.T. Barnum and tons of other leaders helped inspire the Savannah Bananas to think differently and put fans first with entertainment always.
